Toth-Fodor takes the lead in Young Bucks Racers U22
Raphael Weber's private championship entered its third round and Janos Toth-Fodor not only took pole position for the second time, he also crowned himself the first back-to-back winner and did so in a controlled manner.
As mentioned, Toth-Fodor started from pole, ahead of Noah Anderson, who was in second place until the halfway point and then retired due to engine failure, and Fabricio Ze Cruz, who was still leading the championship until this race. Raphael Weber started from 14th on the grid and Felix Piquet and Jack Clow, who started from 5th and 6th on the grid, were the biggest surprises.
The weather conditions were very dry, 36 laps were driven and every driver was forced to pit at least once. Noah Anderson retired on lap 18, the Dane was joined on the grid by Belgian Walter Mairesse on lap 27 and Argentinian Lucas Olocco on the penultimate lap.
The podium was occupied by Janos Toth-Fodor, Jack Clow and Felix Piquet, in that exact order. Fabricio Ze Cruz was overtaken by Clow and Piquet in the final laps due to the weaker strategy and finished the race in 4th place. The organiser Raphael Weber was able to move up from 14th place to 8th place due to the retirements and thanks to his strategy.
Janos Toth-Fodor now leads the championship with 150 to 128 against Fabricio Ze Cruz, Enrico Bitta is still in 3rd place with 84 points, Jack Clow and Felix Piquet are currently in 6th and 8th place with 67 points and 52 points respectively.
Organiser Raphael Weber is in 10th place with 43 points and will be able to enjoy the Melbourne air at the upcoming race. The fourth race will take place on Melbourne's city circuit, Southbank. This will give him a chance to familiarise himself with the Australian Formula 4 race.
