British F3 - Six in Six
Its proving to be one of the tightest championships in MRC history. The Formula 3 British Series has seen six different race winners from the first six races, and a significant contrast in fortunes for several drivers.
Ben Solo won the opening round at Brands Hatch, followed by wins for Morris, Striver, Clarke, Maines, and Brammer which sees the top 5 drivers separated by just 26 points.
In qualifying its been young Ray Striver with the one-lap pace taking pole in both Thruxton and Donington, but in-race misfortune has left him playing catch up, sat 5th in the drivers standings.
"I can't explain it" said Striver after another disappointing result.
"I cost myself dearly in race 1 (at Donington), I had 6 seconds over Maines and then I'm not sure. Coming through Craner Curves I left the track and damaged something quite badly. It was late in the race so I tried to wait it out and perservere. I lost a good 2 seconds a lap after that and Maines picked me off easily. 2nd place was more than I could hope for given the circumstances.
When asked if this error contributed to his Geometry failure causing his race 2 retirement. Striver could only speculate.
Heading into a highly anticipated Round 4 its Ben Solo leading the way by 18 points, due largely to consistency, registering 3 podiums alongside his win in Round 1. Who will be the first multiple-race winner in this unpredictable series!?
