Comunicati Stampa - Formula 1 Power Rankings

Formula 1 Power Rankings

Hi everyone, just posting this to let you guys know that from Season 52 onwards, I’ll be posting Power Rankings for every race weekend in MyRacing Career F1 and real-life F1. Here’s an example:

2023 Spanish Grand Prix

1. Max Verstappen - The Red Bull racer was simply unstoppable, achieving a Grand Chelem, and victory never looked in doubt with the Dutchman topping every single session of the weekend. 10/10

2. George Russell - Having had a horrendous qualifying session before, Russell quickly climbed up the order and was able to secure a respectable P3 in the Grand Prix behind teammate Lewis Hamilton, though contact with the 7-time world champion was costly. 9/10

3. Lewis Hamilton - The other Mercedes driver, on the other hand, had quite a decent race weekend! Qualifying P5, contact with Lando Norris sent the McLaren tumbling down the order, but Hamilton avoided major consequences. A well-driven race combined with the Mercedes’ pace advantage over Ferrari and Aston Martin meant he lead home a 2-3 for the Silver Arrows. 8.5/10

4. GuanYu Zhou - The Alfa Romeo driver has been very much overlooked and underrated this year, with lots of attention going towards Yuki Tsunoda and Nico Hülkenberg. However, the Chinese driver has matched experienced teammate Valtteri Bottas, and this was shown with the youngster’s P9 in Barcelona, whilst his teammate struggled throughout the weekend. 7.5/10

=5. Yuki Tsunoda - Tsunoda has suffered his fair share of heart-breaking moments this season, and he was very upset after finding out that the five-second penalty he was given for the Zhou incident at Turn 1 had dropped him from ninth to 12th. However, it was yet another encouraging result as the young Japanese driver continues his drastic improvement this season. 7/10

=5. Lance Stroll - Stroll came to Spain on the back of a couple of poor results in Miami and Monaco where he failed to score points. But it was a much more confident performance from the Canadian this weekend, outqualifying teammate Alonso for the first time this season in sixth, and pulling off a stunning overtake on Lewis Hamilton in the opening stages to go third. A lack of pace for Aston Martin, however, undermined his efforts. 7/10

=7. Esteban Ocon - After his podium in Monaco, and a sixth-placed start in Spain, finishing eighth may not feel like the best result for Ocon. However, another consistent result is good, and secures valuable points for him and Alpine. 6.5/10

=7. Sergio Pérez - It is fair to say that Saturday did not go as planned for Perez as he was nearly knocked out in Q1 with Charles Leclerc, before then exiting the session in Q2. However, he was in much better form on Sunday, utilising the pace of the RB19 to cut his way through the field. 6.5/10

9. Gasly would have had hopes of finishing higher after qualifying in fourth on Saturday, but a six-place grid drop for impeding Sainz and then Verstappen hampered his hopes of a first podium with Alpine, as he was forced to start from 10th. Having tumbled down the order, he found himself P11 crossing the finish line, but that became P10 when Tsunoda was penalised. 6/10

10. Carlos Sainz - Sainz may have not got the podium at home that he would have dreamt off, but it was not for a lack of effort. An excellent qualifying saw him start the race in second, but unfortunately, he just did not have the pace to match the Red Bulls and the Mercedes. But it was still one of his stronger weekends, with teammate Leclerc scoring no points, and one to be proud of.

Thanks for reading!
