Craig Gardner S48 round up
Much has happened in Gardner's career since he acquired a big brain. Here are the top stories.
Asia Pacific Rally campaign
After finishing 4th overall with 8 rally podiums in the WRS Junior, Understeer Engineering decided to move up the rally ladder in search of more rating points. By that metric, it was a successful season, with Gardner claiming seven top 5's and 6th overall.
Paolo Terinelli was the APRS champion, overhauling an early lead established by Steven Warson. It was Terinelli's second title in as many seasons, as they also won WRS Junior the previous season. Terinelli and Warson are now set to join the European Rally Series...
Gardner entry into WRS-1 considered, declined
Understeer Engineering meanwhile had enough money at the end of this season to move Gardner into the top rally series early, and this was an option the team seriously considered for the same reasons they joined the APRS.
However, it was concluded that Gardner was not yet fast enough to be a consistent points scorer in the WRS, so another season in the Asia Pacific series will follow whilst he works on his driving skills, having almost maxed out all personal skills at this time.
Gallowbird Racing Team
Craig Gardner will also be competing in the racing clubs series from now on for the Gallowbird Racing Team. Owned by SuA22, Gallowbird is a relatively new multi-national club looking to make a strong showing from next season onwards.
Ohayoghurt had been contemplating making his own racing club for several weeks, but after deciding to join Gallowbird, he was quickly impressed by the pool of parts the club owned on top of what he was bringing with him. The car will be good, and the drivers, including Gardner, should with time be able to further support the climb to competitive relevance.
