Formula 1: the "Red Snake" Jarbas wins on Ferrari in Singapore
There are drivers destined to make a mark in Formula 1. One of these is surely Bartolomeu Jarbas. In his trophy case the Formula 1 World title is missing, but the "Red Snake" contributed to characterize an era which has seen drivers as Novikov, Saint Germain and Atelsek...
One step back. In Marina Bay Novikov starts from the pole followed by the two Porsche of Atelsek and Reckziegel. The track does not allow drivers to run away as the wake effect is very strong. In the first part of the race Novikov changes several times the first position with Reckziegel, who crashes at lap 24. Novikov has a chance to run away but at lap 40 the two crashes of Miller and Saint Germain call the Safety Car.
The match is between Novikov, Atelsek, Jarbas and Szabo with the World leading driver Nalbandian penalized in his recovery by a couple of driving errors.
Jarbas overtakes Atelsek, so all Ferrari fans can live again the beutiful head to head seen a couple of seasons ago between the "Zar" Novikov and the "Red Snake" Jarbas.
Novikov has a better car and all predictions are for the monster of talent from Russia, but this time Jarbas has special weapon from his side... he has no tomorrow. He will close his experience in Ferrari this season and, probably, he will not have other opportunities to take a win.
Jarbas wants to win, he deserve to win, he MUST win.
So... in the last lap Jarbas takes the role of the "Red Snake" for a last time, he overtakes Novikov and bring his red Ferrari to heaven.
This is the 14th victory for Jarbas in Formula 1, the 18th driver of all times.
Ferrari thanks him for this jewel and for all the exciting seasons lived together.
