Pegaso announces major sponsorship deal with Repsol
The Spanish multinational petrochemical company, the biggest of the Iberian Peninsula, signs a four-year sponsorship agreement with the Flying Horse team.
After 5 seasons racing in F1, for the first time ever Escudería Pegaso will have a main sponsor. It will be the company known as CAMPSA (Repsol) the one which will appear on the Pegaso cars Z-203, Z-204, Z-205 y Z-206 being the protagonist of a design presented today at the Circuit de Catalunya.
At the event, all shareholders of the team plus both drivers of season 40, Pablo León and Ángel Holguera, were there, both of them dressed up with the new overalls and helmets for all team fans or those from their successors.
"After Philip and Jaroslaw's signings, this is another step forward which clarifies our intentions of keeping on the correct line of progress. This multiannual sponsorship signed with Repsol will give us enough funding for the new engine development for new regulations as also for improving our headquarters. Talking of a close future, we are putting all our efforts on Z-203's development, the car we hope can give us back to the results of last season or, at least, something close to that. I want to thank Repsol for making this possible, but also our two loyal sponsors, Necto and CS Lubricantes, which trusted in us since we entered F1, but mainly, to our shareholders who have endorsed this movement with their trust. Also, a big thank you to all Formula One fans for supporting us every year. We hope not to dissapoint you." - were nicorz's words, team manager of the team for the last 12 seasons.
"This sponsorship deal marks the beggining of a new era for Pegaso" - said Pegaso's Dietrich Mateschitz, JordiMontané, major shareholder of the team and designer of car, overall and helmet liveries.
We hope that this news is to the liking of the fans of the Spanish team and that the relationship between Repsol, Pegaso and Formula 1 will last for many time.
