Ferrari did it again! Morgan is the king of Silverstone
If your question is "Can a driver that is going to turn 36 years be competitive in F1?", well Dexter Morgan is the answer.
The Russian driver so called "The Final Countdown", as he drives like there is no tomorrow, takes the win in Silverstone on his red Ferrari after an exciting race against Reckziegel (Porsche) and Nalbandian (Red Bull).
Reckziegel starts from the pole. He seems very confident in the first laps and his clean drive gives him five seconds of gap vs the rest of the group. Behind him Morgan makes a couple of mistakes but is able to keep the position against the super-rookie Nalbandian.
In the middle of the race Morgan's pace seems very good and the Russian ace takes some advantage from Nalbandian getting closer to the first position.
In the last laps a couple of Reckziegel's errors let "The Final Countdown" to come back. Morgan is very close to Porsche but does not try any action. He waits, waits, waits again... and then, three laps from the ending, his chance to overtake comes and he gets the lead.
The red Ferrari is the first car at the finish line. This is the third win for the Scuderia in the last five races.
Here the words of Ferrari Head Engeneer Max Del Ragno "We are very proud of what Morgan is doing this season. At the signing he asked for a great car and we, as Ferrari, asked for a top driver. It seems both the parts are respecting their contract."
What about errors in Silverstone qualify? "It was like to be in Nurburgring at the '70s... some of the very best drivers was out, but this is a part of the game, you know".
What do you expect from your competitors in the next part of the season? "Red Bull will continue to be in the front but we have demonstrated to be able to attack them during races. I think Ferrari has brought some bio-diversity to Formula 1".
What about McLaren and Porsche? "They are super-strong competitors, it is very interesting to compete with teams with such experience and technical capability. The Championship is long, but we have built a good car and we have the "Red Snake" Jarbas and "The Final Countdown" Morgan..."
With this win Morgan counts 16 overall victories in F1 at the 15th place in all-time drivers ranking.
