Doodle "Not Impressed" by Rookie
After a quick race a Sebring featuring a fairly mid-range field, Seven Racing's Snicker Doodle was asked for his comments on Alex Keister, an MRC rookie that has been making waves with a high volume of press releases and claims of dominant racing against much stronger competition.
At first, the Truck Series driver seemed confused about the questions. "Who are we talking about? I was chasing Raik [Miki Raikonen] and Szasz all race from P3. Was anyone else near us? I thought we were all miles apart at the front."
Members of the press got a chuckle out of the response, but clarified, speaking to the aggressive press tactics employed by the young driver and his team, asking if he'd heard of the driver prior to the race, and wondered if he had any thoughts.
"I hadn't heard anything about him in the garage. He's in the news? Guess I need to hire his PR guy." Again the room broke out laughing. "I've still got a long ways to go in MRC. At best I'm an average driver, and I don't remember hearing his name in the strategy discussions or over race radio running anywhere near the top 5. I suppose a good PR firm can make you out to be bigger than your talent level though. If he's not running up front with the group from this race, he's got a big mountain to climb to be worth the press attention I'm hearing he's getting. Good luck to him I guess, hopefully we can run some laps near each other someday."
