Nations Cup Changes (season 37)
There are some changes to MyRacingCareer Nations Cup coming next season. As you already know we had a competition for new chassis and you voted for the best one. And next season they will be used but that is not all.
The name of the new chassis is Car of Tomorrow although as of now it is almost the car of today.
New cars will be a little bit faster so be prepared for some track records. In addition to that these cars will have DRS, so races should be more interesting and we should see more overtaking.
Another change will be done to junior and young drivers` races. We will still keep two U21, two U25, and two unrestricted races per week, but age eligibility for these restricted races will be calculated by age at the beginning of the season.
So even a driver who had a birthday on the first day of the season and after that is 22 years old will be considered U21 eligible the whole season. It is very similar to football U20 teams where the player`s age limit is based on the calendar year, not the actual date. You do not see players being sent home from U20 World Cup just because they just had a birthday.
This gives us an opportunity to make fair U21 and U25 standings. We would not have to throw a driver turning 26 in the middle of the season from U25 standings or just stop counting points from that day.
What`s next
But this is not where we would stop with the changes to improve the Nations Cup. This is what we are considering for the future:
- Reverse grid of Top10 drivers in the second race. In combination with lowering amount of points drivers can earn in the second race to reduce competitive unfairness this should help improve action in second races. Of course, we would have to consider the effect of DRS this season. If it for some reason would be irrelevant, we should postpone this idea.
- The car performance boost is an idea that should make the work of the National Association president more relevant. He would have a certain number of performance boost points available for each week and he would have to tactically distribute them between nominated drivers. He can distribute them evenly or put extra to the dedicated driver to give him better chances to get points. Analytic work will be needed to find what gives the best chance to maximize points gained.
- Car sophistication can be added to NC cars so a lower amount of setup advice will come and differences in car setup quality might be bigger than before.
- Randomize tyres durability at the beginning of every season. Same for everybody but different from the previous season. We could follow in F1 foot steps to force managers to recalculate strategies in every race, not use the winning strategy from last season.
- F1 style qualification which means a knockout system after every attempt might add some more excitement to qualification (and yes also some negative emotions).
- Motorcycle races. We are thinking of adding 3 more races every week, one per age category. The only difference would be that there will be motorcycles instead of cars.
And maybe some new ideas will come up.
What do you think?
