Jason Anderson reporting from Denver after the short race in the F3 American series.
Rage Motorsport had another strong outing today, with Nick Wheeler notching his first win of the series, and the Rage pilots sitting 1,2,4,5 at the end of the race.
I had a quick post race talk with Nick:
JA: How does it feel to be standing on the top step of the podium?
NW: Great! I've been looking forward to this, and it feels as good as I'd imagined.
JA: Tell us when you knew you had the win.
NW: I came around the last turn and saw Drummond and Brandon split the course and slow down. I guess they made contact, but either way, I shot the gap. I looked in my mirror on exit of turn 1 and no one was there! I'm just glad they were able to all finish top 5, I thought there was a major incident that took them all out, till I came out of 4 and saw the two machines about a half-second back. I just kept my speed up and my nerves down, and waited for the finish line to show up!
JA: Anything else?
NW: Yeah, I want to acknowledge the support my teammates have given me. And (pointing at Carl Zimmers) I also have to tip my hat to Carl, who busted up another all-Rage podium with a great drive today. Hey, Carl!
And with that, Wheeler and his teammate Drummond Bennett got back to the business of drowning Zimmer in champagne.
