Semprini Launches Season 7
It's a new season and a new series for F3 driver Monty Semprini and the Canadian kicked things off in style by launching his new helmet and livery in Austin just ahead of the first race. Sporting sunglasses supplied by personal sponsor Ray-Ban, Monty lifted the covers off his LOL-VOL package, with the aid of Hungarian supermodel Barbara Palvin, to flashing cameras.
The new car is white with black sidepods and endplates, and trimmed brilliantly with aqua blue and sunburst blend. Ray-Ban is the most prominent sponsor with their bright red logo adorning the engine cover. Semprini's name is stenciled in white microgramma on the black sidepods. Other sponsors include Poker Stars, Fuji TV, Acer and the iconic Eni petroleum logo.
"I love it. It looks top," said Monty with a smile. "I'm a sucker for a white car with color. There's something about white that makes the colors so much more vivid."
Semprini also took the time to show off his new helmet design in aqua blue blending downward into black with the same Semprini microgramma font. The sunburst blend appears above the visor. Ms Palvin also lent her lips to the artwork as an airbrushed stencil of her kiss is painted in magenta lipstick.
A Season 7 switch to North American F3 is a homecoming of sorts for the Canadian despite his home Vancouver track's conspicuous absence from the calendar.
"I go where therre is an opportunity to race and to win," said Semprini. "Eastern Europe is where I started out and then last year I moved up to Africa and it has worked out quite well. I think I have a great chance to win this series. I'm ready."
Semprini's career has been full of success at the lower levels. Taking the Ukrainian F3 Championship in his first season, he followed that up with the Slovenian F3 Championship including nine pole positions. Stepping up to the Major F3 series of Africa, Monty performed better than expected to take second place on five wins.
Never meeting a camera that he didn't like, Monty posed next to the car with his supermodel on his arm. Both wore their shades in the bright Texas sunshine. He spoke about his chances for Season 7 in North America.
"Tim Richmond I think is the man to beat, but I don't know very many of the others so I'm expecting a surprise or two," he offered. "But I'm here to win it so I'm stoked for the show to start."
