Massey Finally Takes British F3 Crown
What. A. Comeback!
Today Jack Massey is celebrating both the British F3 Championship and the offer of a drive in the European F3 Series next season, following a dominant final round performance saw him sneak ahead of Rob Scott for the title.
Having been disappointed in the final rounds after title challenges in each of the past 2 seasons, it was ultimately third time lucky for Massey.
Pole position and back to back wins for the new champ, while closest rival Scott suffered with a poor setup after missing much of practice, saw a massive points swing across the round at Brands Hatch, and sees Massey leaving the Kent circuit with two winners trophies, the title trophy and a shot at European F3 next season.
When asked about the outcome, Massey said "Going into the final two rounds it looked a done deal for Rob, but I had the experience of thinking second was sealed for me last year when Nic Goldblum snuck in at the final round and dropped me to third, so I chose to fight until it was mathematically impossible, and for once it came good for me. Commiserations also to Den Hussey and Dave Hamilton, who as always pushed us hard throughout the season and only fell away right at the end. It feels pretty good to come out on top knowing this is probably the toughest and most enjoyable field we've had in the past 3 years, so definitely time to celebrate and look forward to a new challenge next year!"
