F3 Masters Round 5 Macau Round-Up: Winners and Losers

Macau has delivered a brilliant season finale, lots of crashes, drivers trying to survive on the tight streets but at the same time braving it to get the best result possible, but the most important thing happened was that after the penultimate race at Macau, with the two nearest contenders finishing poorly and Rafael Drummond won the race, he took the championship with him too and let's go through the review of the final round of this season.

Winners:
Rafael Drummond:
Took a close pole position from Valenta Jr. by only 7 thousandths a second and dominated the wet-dry race to become champion, 2nd race was irrevelant for him but crashed out on the final lap from 3rd but who cares? He's still the F3 Master of Season 28.

Harvey Evans:
Continued his brilliant form he carried from Spa into Macau, Drummond was unbeatable in the sprint race but Evans took adantvage in the Feature Race by jumping him in the pits under the safety car and just never looked back and the best thing of it is that he finishes 3rd in the standings.

Ludek Valenta Jr.
Probably his best meeting for last, started on the front row, might've lost a podium in the dying moments in a very wet Macau in the Sprint Race but came inches short of victory in the Feature Race. At least we knew as always he had the speed to be a winner, let's not forget he's won the massive battle to 5th in the standings against 8 other drivers.

Terry Fullerton:
Like Zandvoort, took adantvage in the mixed conditions what he loves the most, finished on the podium in the Sprint but managed to just about hold on in the Feature, just losing the podium to Palmu on the final lap. Just lost the battle of 5th in the standings but otherwise it was a decent season by the Young Brit.

Paolo Nannini:
Bounced back from his dismissal weekend at Spa and had 2 decent races at Macau, scoring alot of points too

Josh Rush:
A good Sprint race after only being middle of the pack in qualifying but could've gotten more if he pitted in the first safety car window but that didn't matter, he actually got more in the feature race to score his best result since the opener.

Steve Wallace:
Continued to deliver good results throughout the meeting, just lost 6th in the Feature Race on the final lap to Paolo Nannini.

Alex Reis:
Good qualifying, had the potential for a brilliant result in Race 1 but got nutmegged by 4 drivers in one corner but 8th place is still a good result by the young Brazilian, race 2 was also decent as well.

Honzik Volak Jr.
Recent criticism at Spa movitated him to deliver good results at Macau, qualified inside the top 15, caught out by the dry-wet conditions but drove a mega race to score points before the invitational season closed. Just about made it today.

Bernando Reckziegel:
Another beautiful comeback drive by the young Brazilian, failed to get through Lap 1 in the Sprint but timed everything perfect in the Feature, just enough to become the U19 champion.

Imbui Jones, Anthony Lelis, Alex Beng Chong, Alexandre Seda and Bruno daCosta:
The young 5 backmarkers survived the Macau madness in the Feature Race to come through and score their best results of the season with 18th, 19th, 20th, 22nd and 23rd respectively.

Losers:

Bartek Szybki:
Was unforunately caught out in the dry-wet conditions which undid his meeting all together.

Marc Vilanova:
Was looking good for a potential podium in the Sprint Race until he aquaplanned into one wall into another and got taken out in Feature Race leading into a double DNF, what a shame after alot of motivation was there having a brilliant meeting at Spa.

Zahara Starwing:
Another caught out in strategy.

Zach Austin:
Scored his best qualifying result of the season which could lead to a very good results for the American only for it to turn into a lie, the dry-wet strategy caught him out like some others and apparently lost drive in the Feature while he was set for a comeback.

David Lumbreras Jr.
A crash in qualifying unfolded his whole meeting from there but the only good thing was that he was able to climb his way up the order only to miss out on points, again...

Carl Pietrzak:
Strategy unfolded his weekend but he was stuck down there for the whole Feature Race, Macau is really unforgiving sometimes.

Dawid Melnarowicz Jr.
A very rare strategy error saw him had chaos in the Sprint and didn't really come back in the Feature, major disasterclass and I'm sure he didn't want to look at the standings again after this.
