Lehdistötiedotteet - "I saw for the first time why he's gained his nickname": Kozlej on "Mean" Gene Bellamy

"I saw for the first time why he's gained his nickname": Kozlej on "Mean" Gene Bellamy

"You just knew it was going to be one of those unforgettable moments" said soon to be retired driving coach Karol Kozlej. His driver, "Mean" Gene Bellamy had just entered the pits with an extremely damaged car after a pair of collisions on laps 8 and 9 of the U21 Cup private series.

"After emerging from the car and taking off his helmet, I saw for the first time why he's gained his nickname. The devil himself could not have possessed the fire he had in his soul!" continued Kozleg. "I was so glad when he passed by me and went straight to our team manager"

"Did you see that!" barked "Mean" Gene, "This has got to stop!"

He was referring to what seems to be an unending string of collisions in U21 competitions over the past several seasons that are being caused by the mistakes of other drivers.

"These guys are simply being too aggressive and don't possess the mental capabilities to be attempting the passes or defend in the manner that they are!" protested Bellamy to his manager.

Canadian president and newly minted MRC Deputy Dean Doucet agreed that this is long been an issue with the U21's but suggested "that's the nature of the U21 training ground".

That's of little consolation for Bellamy who is well known for his passing ability which was well on display in this race at Interlagos. He started the race in the final 43rd place and by lap 8 was attempting to pass the car in the 22nd position. That's when the action started. Dylano Senna was attempting to pass Lyle Conde and made a mistake causing a collision. Bellamy then attempted to go around Conde, but Conde made a mistake and collided with Bellamy.

On the following lap, Bellamy was attempting to pass Bradley Bundy who was defending but Bundy made a mistake and ended Bellamy's passing clinic.

"I know these young guys are trying to do their best out there" offered Kozlej, "but their managers and coaches need to step up and take some responsibility for their choices before someone gets hurt." Wise words from the veteran coach.

"I had to laugh at our manager" chuckled Kozlej. "When he had the car repainted they added a new toon - Yosemite Sam and his two guns! You know darn well he's trying to console "Mean" Gene while sending a message to other drivers. I have a hunch things are going to get interesting this season."
