Q/A with Wilsean Dahir: First Full Season Complete, Goals for S17
Rebecca Southworth travels to Cardiff, Wales to catch up with Wilsean Dahir and his preparations for next season.
Q: So Wilsean, what happened at Brands Hatch, no top 10 finish in any session, was it shocking for you?
W: Not really a shock but disappointing, I kept on making mistakes which costed me top 10 finishes in both races. I even broke my floor in the Sprint Race which made the car hard to drive and harder to defend my position or catch up to the guys infront.
Q: Let's just put it behind, so what was your best moment?
W: Has to be the WHOLE Knockhill Sprint Race, we were about 8 cars fighting for victory from start to finish, not to forget the number of safety car periods we had.
Q: You also had 7 out of 8 top 10 finishes before Brands
W: That's a pretty good record to be honest, that means I can win a race next season, hopefully.
Q: You said earlier on that you wanted to fight for the champ but instead Jonas Gudas is here to take it, what do you expect for next season?
W: Once I improve my driver skills, I will get the title but since Jonas is here, I'll just try to win a race minimum. It depends over what type of drivers will race this season.
Q: How are you going to prepare for S17? Will it be better and bigger for you?
W: More simulator work, more driver training, I tend to focus on my personal skills this season and a bit of my driving. I could say next season will be better because of my peformances on track that will improve and bigger because people will recongize me and remember my name.
Q: Oh yes, I forgot the biggest question, Nations Cup, will you get chosen?
W: I'll just reserve for either Wellington or Dover because for sure, it'll be these two as the main U21 drivers. And tell the president (surely will be MrLeg) to call me for the wet weather races because I'm the one for it.
Q: Ok, good luck for S17
W: Cheers
