On to Bigger and Better Things
Kasey Hilton had an outstanding season that could very well be considered his breakthrough season for many reasons.
Firstly, he greatly improved his win tally, and went from being, as he described, "one-lap nutcase" to a force to be reckoned with in qualifying, as he qualified in the top ten in over four-fifths of the qualifying sessions he participated in. Secondly, he can now finally say that he has won several titles, as he prevailed in two very close battles. His first succeeded in the seventh edition of the Jane Jane Cup for his first ever custom series title. He and title rival Yannik De Florio, as fate would have it, TIED with 135 points each, and therefore, both claimed the title. Then, Kasey lead the entire F3 Serbian season. Despite many podiums and a sweep of the Hungaroring race weekend, it was never easy, as Dejan Radisavljevic proved to be a skilled adversary and made sure that the title went down to the wire. The title was decided at Navak, the final race of the season. Dejan had won the sprint race and was looking for a weekend sweep while Kasey had only claimed fourth. However, Dejan was only able to finish fourth directly ahead of Kasey who was eager to drive a clean race and just get it over with in fifth place. "Dejan was a worthy opponent. It was a pleasure racing with him. I know he's going to be among the top drivers at the rate he's going."
...and it's not just this season that has really pleased him...
After clinching the Serbian F3 title, Kasey is delighted to announce that he will be making the switch to the ETCC. "I was going to go there whether I won or lost, but winning it has put me in good spirits. I'm hyped up about my chances next season!"
Kasey will be driving a SEAT under "#TheSquad" banner, and he aims to be among the top independent drivers and believes an overall top ten series finish is a reasonable goal. He expects to remain in this series for two or three seasons, and then we will see where he goes from there...
