Is S15 Already Done For Jay?
Animosity was rife across the NOVA camp in Moscow this weekend as the team packed up to ship out to the next race of F3 Eastern Europe.
Reports suggest neither Jay Wellington or manager Adamski showed for the teams post-event de-brief on account of neither having spoken since further disappointment from Jay, making many ask whether Welly could possibly come back from such a poor start.
Four races down, and only a handfull of points on the board. Jay has shown flashes of brilliance qualifying 5th and 4th respectively for the first two races, but a DNF in Race 1 as Welly lost his black NOVA to the wall, Race 2 saw the young Brit collect another driver for a second DNF while overtaking for 25th.
Race 3, and Jay finally delivered on his promise, finishing 5th a significant margin ahead of 6th. But Race 4 saw a return to form, registering a third DNF, this time from a comfortable 5th in the closing laps of the race, and again due to driver error.
"We're not pushing him too hard, i know this will be everybody's first question, modest aggro and a training regime that should ensure this never happens. Jay even managed to secure 5th in the recent French Custom series, out performing some serious competition. We havn't binned it on many occasions this season, but not finishing 3 of 4 of your Series races is simply not acceptable!" said Adamski in a statement on Monday morning.
Now well over a hundred points behind title rivals, Wellington has a veritable cliff to climb to secure his investment and finish 6th in the series...
