American Takes 2nd in Italian Series.
Young American Michael Bauer ran a good race today, finishing on the podium with a P3 finish on his 20th birthday to clinch the 2nd spot in the F3 Italian Series points. Our reporter on the scene was able to catch the ecstatic young man as he made his way through paddock post race.
R: Michael, you've had a wonderful season and managed a 2nd place finish in the points, how do you feel?
M: Jubilant. I'm riding a high my friend.
R: What was the key to your success this year?
M: Consistency, we've only missed the top 10 once all season, and even in that race we fought through the field twice and nearly made it.
R: Rumors are circling that you'll be leaving the Italian Series next season, any comments?
M: Yes, I think the team and I will be stepping up to a little bigger series for next season, with a goal to get to one of the Major F3 series the year after. Our boss is looking into it.
R: Some have suggested that you might be disappointed not to get another seat in the U21's for the US this season, any truth in that.
M: I'd be lying if I said I wasn't. I thought I performed well with my chance last season, and with my runs here in Italy this season I can't imagine why I've been passed up.
R: Do you keep an eye on the other young Americans?
M: I'll check in on their results. And I certainly saw that Barker had a good season, but I thought I'd have a go once Kuz moved up for sure.
R: Well congratulations Michael, I'll let you get back to your team.
M: Thanks!
