"The Lip" Sweeps in Czech Republic
Rookie Louie "The Lip" Gagliano had a good reason to be grinning from ear to ear after his sweep at the Masaryk track in the Czech Republic.
After an error filled first qualifying run which still had him in 5th place the american decided to let it go "(bleep) to the wall" ran to the provisional pole.
In the 19 lap sprint race "The Lip" led wire to wire. His closest competitor Abbey Marshall of England could never seem to get closer than half a second from the American and never seemed to threaten.
Before the 35 lap main event "The Lip" looked more subdued than normal. Instead of the boasts that seemed to be his nature he refused to make any comment before the race. This was understandable considering how he had failed to finish the majority of these races so far this season. Things were going smoothly for "The Lip" until he came into the pits on lap 19 where Franccesco Bomba of France took the lead. Out of the pits and finding himself down by 10 plus seconds both he and the pit crew were perplexed how this could have happened. Their questions were answered when on the 32nd of the 35 laps Bomba had to make a 2nd pit stop. This opened the door for "The Lip" to go through and he did without flinching. The final few laps were no problem and the sweep was complete. After the race "The Lip" returned to normal.
' "The Lip" is of course thrilled by this result. There isn't a race that I'm not in that I don't do everything to win. That is the nature of "The Lip". There is still more to learn. "The Lip" is still working on assembling the best crew I can find. Plus in spite of not starting my season until the 5th week I'm still on the verge of breaking into the top 100. Now "The Lip" will see if he can make this weekends results happen a little bit more often."
