Shoemaker breaks Hanna´s F3 German series streak
The streak is over.
After four consectutive pole positions and eight consectutive race wins, Mario Hanna's death grip on the German Formula 3 championship has been broken by as the Brit snatched pole position at Norisring today by just over a tenth of a second from Hanna.
Speaking in the post qualifying press conference, Shoemaker thanked his race engineer, Cale Pease for giving him what he felt was a 'perfect setup for the track'. Shoemaker was in reflective mood, stating that 'the season so far hadn't quite gone to plan' but he felt this and a more conservative driving style could be the springboard to improving on last year's fourth placed championship finish.
He did concede that Hanna's dominance up until today meant that a championship challenge from anyone (Hanna leads the championship by a colossal 176 points from second placed Totti Totinjo) was highly unlikely but Shoemaker assured the attending journalists that he was gunning for the runner's up spot in the championship and nothing less would do come the end of season.
