Lehdistötiedotteet - Williams season 11 in a nutshell

Williams season 11 in a nutshell

Season 11 was the best season in Williams' history. The season was full of excitement and good performance by both of the drivers, Laine and Kauria. During the two previous seasons Williams has been able to score points only in a few races, but now in season 11, Laine and Kauria were able to take some points in five separate races.

The seasons number 1 highlights, with no doubt, was the Monaco GP, where Kauria was fighting for a podium positions finishing 4th in the end. In the same race Laine gave his second best effort finishing 8th.

The second significant achievement took place in the last GP in Abu Dhabi. Laine did a unbelievable performance finishing 6th. The points that Laine got for the team, helped Williams to climb past Windsor into 7th place in the team standings by 2 point difference.

The team manager looni summarizes the season like this:

"The season was excellent, better than most (or we) dared to expect. We believed that we had always a chance to get some points, but we didn't expect to get as good results as we did. Specially in the qualifications the guys were always really fast, but unfortunately the race performance left us some place for improvements. Let's say that we took the points where it was possible for us. We have to remember how was the set up before the season. Williams was rated the worst of the whole circus with 724 rating points. During the season we were able to elevate it to 790 and we left behind four other teams. I can't be but happy."

looni finds the time to comment also the season 12:

"Our goal is to be able to retain our performance. Someone might say that it's stupid not to pursue better results, but the answer to him is that we are a lot behind the others with our development work. At the beginning of season 11 we developed our engine with the who crew for 30 days, so we got a big delay on our chassis work. These schedule problems will probable reflect also to season 13, because at the beginning of season 12 we are still busy with the season 12 aeroparts. I guess we have to find some kind of compromise about the usage of our development resources."
