Charismatic American Helen Wheels finishes 13th
The enigmatic young 21 year old was not happy with where the team finished.
"I DNF'd 10 out of 11 races mid season. We could have finished top 5 and the reason we didn't even get a top ten finish falls on my shoulders. The team gave me a top five car or better all year. I let everyone down and I am aware of that." "Let's not remind me of my transgressions fore I have not forgotten them."
Wheels finished with this..."I will take my experience and put it to work next season." "That's all that's left to be said really."
Wheels' driving coach Lauri Naumanen had this to say...
"The kid is only 21 years old." "Helens' first win and first pole in the first season is far beyond what was expected." "I am very excited for next season." "We have a ton of room to improve. We basically spotted the field 60% of the schedule and still finished 13th." "If I can help Helen clean up some of those common mental mistakes all rookies make. Especially 20 year old rookies. We can compete with anyone." "We need to finish races plain, simple and true."
Nobody knows what will happen next year. But it's hard not to bet on Wheels to land in the top 10 next season. You combine that with the charisma that oozes out of every pour and you are going to generate wins. You will create a product sponsors want to be associated with at Helen Wheels Motorsports. Helen Wheels is the kind of driver that you can build a franchise. That franchise will eventually win championships and eventually be a dynasty.
Next seasons competitors better check their mirrors. I suspect that mirror will be full of Helen Wheels.
