Lehdistötiedotteet - McLaren Season 10 Recap
McLaren Season 10 Recap
Hey everyone,
now that the 10th season is over it’s time for an update on McLaren’s season.
F1 in general
It was an interesting season driven by a rivalry between OMR and Mercedes in the second half and a championship race that was open until the last race. Congratulations to old and new F1 champion Andre Acarini and team champions OMR! Jordan improved their car a lot and Charvec Libor could get Jordan’s first two wins. Mercedes build a great car, especially in the second half of the season with Grandi even challenging for the title and Bum, who provided a big upgrade over last seasons driver Rajgopaul, with two wins. Arguably best driver St. Germain was held back by a Red Bull car that was not as fast as in the previous season.
Talking points were the dominance of teams that build their own engines and those who adapted best to the changes in aerodynamic part development. While aerodynamic parts improved when you put money in the chassis in season 9 you had to develop each part on its own in season 10.
McLaren’s season
At mid-season we were at 56 points and 5th place in team standings. In our press release at that stage we told everyone that we expected more in the remainder of the season. Sadly we couldn’t do that as we scored the exact amount of points in the second half as well. McLaren finishes the season with 112 points and in 5th place.
At least Freiverts ended his streak of bad luck and got from 8 points to 38 points and 11th place. Szabo dropped from 7th place to 8th with 74 points.
As this team had “5th best car” written all over it from the beginning we are quite satisfied with this season. It provided a big improvement over season 9, a few stats to go along with that:
Season Income: 50.1 million (Season 9: 39.3 million)
Team Rating: 1063 (Season 9: 1016)
Fans: 77 (Season 9: 61)
What’s new in season 11?
Not much will change in the upcoming 11th season. Our drivers will stay the same with Szabo and Freiverts. For the first time we will build our own gearbox, other than that our engineers are working on aerodynamic parts of the car right now.
Donations possible until Sunday
This is a little plea to everyone who is about to retire his driver and create a new one for the upcoming season. As you may or may not know your money is not getting transfered from your old to your new driver. Everyone starts at 0 with a donation of 500.000 $ (or less if you start later in the season). So it makes sense to donate your remaining money to a Formula 1 team of your choice. To do this you simply have to go to the teams page and then you see “Donate Driver Money” in the lower right corner of the screen.
You can donate your money to any team, we would of course be very pleased if we were your chosen team. ;-)
McLaren fans
Thank you to all ouf our fans for your support, we got from 61 fans at the start of the season, 74 fans at mid-season-mark to now 79 fans! And thank you for your increasing donation of voting points, especially to andjamwar, Azureika, AndresPrada and Zsoltika2014, who donated on a regular basis last season!
Also thank you to those who donated money, to co-owners USSFSteeler, peet13 and driver argo001 and a very big thank you to Stillophon, who is starting a new driver and donated 911,000$ despite having no affiliation to the team!
