Lehdistötiedotteet - Shuffling the Deck | American F3

Shuffling the Deck | American F3

The eventful weekend of racing at Cleveland brought youngster Brandon Knight his first double header of his career in impressive fashion against an ever competitive field of drivers. The result of the weekend leaves Knight top of the table, a position he graced very briefly just a few weeks ago before a bit of a mid season slump. We finally caught up with the unusually elusive Brit at his Los Angeles base. As usual Jason Anderson is the man with the microphone.

JA: Brandon, good to see you, it's been a while.

Knight: Yea I guess it has huh, good to see you.

JA: It was an impressive weekend you just had, getting by all 3 of your teammates in race one and then an empatic victory despite the pace car in race two.

Knight: To be honest I think the overriding feeling was relief. It's been a difficult few weeks and this weekend was a walcome return to the form I had hoped to show all season.

JA: So what's been going on since we spoke?

Knight: I think there were a number of contributing factors, as a team we took our eye off the ball, personally I was getting wreckless on the track in the persuit of lap times and in some cases we were just unlucky. The problem is when you start getting in a rut it can be hard to get out, the whole world feels like it's out to get you...and when that happens there is almost nowhere worse to be than in a 200mph race car!

JA: I can just imagine. Seems like you've snapped yourself out of it now though, back to the top of the championship table.

Knight: Sometimes you just have to take a big right turn to get off those tracks. I took some time with the team down in Australia away from the usual crowds and concentrated a lot on the mental aspects of my driving.

JA: How so?

Knight: I always aimed to be a consistant driver over a fast and reckless one, somewhere in the mist of fighting with the other [Rage] guys I forgot that and just wanted to be the fastest out there.

JA: And now?

Knight: Now I'm in a better place. I know I need to be quick but that pace will come, and I'd rather be in the top 4 every race than the top 1 every 3rd race.

JA: You think you can keep yourself top of the table over the remaining few weeks?

Knight: You know better than to ask me things like that. It's way too close to call. Drum and Nick are right there on my coat tails and Hansson is breathing down all our necks getting quicker and quicker. I'll be doing my best to keep myself up the top, but it's anyones game still.

JA: Thanks Brandon.

So there we have it. A very calm and collected Knight leads the American F3 series into it's last few weeks. Light Knight I have no idea who might come out on top but one thing is for sure...the exceitement level is only going to go up from here!
