Lehdistötiedotteet - Top series championship run

Top series championship run

Indy Series
4 races to go de Saint-Germain Jr has run away from it’s competition with 94 point lead over Novikov who has had stable season. A few non-finishes and SG Jr might find himself with the rest to fight for championship. But fight for 2nd place is massive between 3 drivers. Grosjean 3 time Indy champion after early season struggles has gathered himself to finish some race up to his standards. Vergne has failed to win a single race, but stable driving keeps him in fight for 2nd. The next 14 drivers right now are fighting between themselves to conquer place 5-10.
Next season seems to be with some changes to the field. Provisional informations tells us that Grandi is joining Indy, who has F2 world championship in fold as well as 2 F2 Regional championships. Vergne, Novikov, Muzzio seems to be leaving Indy. With these changes some of the remaining drivers could have a career season.

F2 World
5 races to go Grandi have 60 point lead over Poucette, who has to finish races whole season to give trouble to Grandi, who has one of the better race finish percentages. Poucette’s race pace matches Grandi’s which can offer us a good season ending. In fight for 3rd place on championship are Pires and Piks. With Piks last race trouble Pires might as well gotten away with it, because he is right there to get points, but Piks has to climp up positions to get some comfort points to have some chance to bother Pires or 3rd.
Next season the field will change significantly. Vergne and Novikov will come over from Indy series, Tok, Kauss, Janeks and Essertal will come over from various F2 Regional series. As mentioned Grandi leaves to conquer Indy series. These changes promises for some intense battles along the way.

Indy Junior USA
4 races to go Kubica has comfortable lead over Adler, who finished 2nd last season, with 69 points. Adler is closely with followed by Kaderabek and Ide, last season’s champion. These 4 will be the main ones to share the podium. Penna is solidly in 5th, but fight 5-10 is getting tougher as season goes.

Indy Junior International
4 races to go Dan might finally with championship this season after 4 completed tries. He is the favourite to win it all as he stands in 1st with 67 point lead over Zanardi, who keeps driving stable. Zanardi seems to be locked in at least 2nd. The fight after is unconclusive, last season’s champion Vanderpuije after misfortunes and lack of speed in certain races has caught him out of chance for championship again, but with solid race he might take 3rd away from Kaderabek. Has to vercome 31 point deficit in order to just that. Weirdly but Wellington has said he is not taking driving seriously anymore as he has other priorities in life, but he keeps getting finishes and still sits at 8th, might as well stay in at least 10-11th position by the end of the season.

F2 Africa
5 races to go Bum is in comanding lead and will be crowned 3 time F2 Africa champion. This season when Bum has finished he has won the race. Szabo sits at second with 33 point gap over Janeks and Ferrara. Szabo has to crawl back up in the points for the next race, but others are up there to fight for podium again.

F2 Asia
5 races to go De Peppis is in the lead, but unlike in F2 Africa fight for championship is far from over. With some quality races and pace Strega and Terkin can find themselves back in fight for championship with less point deficit to overcome in very last races. Zemeckas might have been up the at the top, but risky driving keeps him out of the championship race.

F2 Europe
5 races to go Kinnunen is neatly going for his 3rd straight F2 Europe championship. After that 4 driver will divide the places between 2-5, Kuks might join in the mix with some impressive performances, but slight chance as he has come up from outside of points.

F2 Oceania
5 races to go Lakka and Fabi are locked in fight for championship. 3 young drivers Kauria, Whakatau Pootiki and Di Rado will clarify who has the right to be 3rd. Marshall the veteran seems to be not paying much attention to driver anymore these days, but it makes easier to climb up the ladder for younger drivers. Marshall still has the most victories in the series.

F2 North America
5 races to go Acarini is on the way to become champion for second season in a row. Right now Essertal locks 2nd, but Laine and Pirro taking the fight for last place on the podium. Adrews has driven solidly after coming from F3 series. Stable finishes in points he might sway 4th place away from either Pirro or Laine in case of some misfortunes for those two.

F2 South America
5 races to go Tok and Cannas do their bidding for championship, Cannas is in better place starting from front line, but Tok out of the points. Championship run might come to an end for one of these drivers in next few races. Solidly Morese keeps getting points and carved a 3rd place it seems.
