Porsche Racing: Season 22 review
With the start of new season, it's time to look back and see how we did in season 22.
Porsche Racing was one of the few teams that started the season with fully developed car. It not surprising that first race of the season was already one of the highlight, as rookie driver Artis Atrumins managed to finish in 6th place. This were team's first points after last race of season 16 and the first ones with the new team name.
Artis Atrumins also managed to score points in the next two races, with the best team result coming in China where he finished 5th. After that points were a lot harder to come by, as other teams started to catch up with their upgrades. After race in Russia, where Porsche failed to score points for the first time, Valtteri Sinisalo managed to score points in Spain, his first in Formula 1. His best result came in Austria, where he managed to equal team's best season result with 5th place. This was also team's best race as Artis Atrumins also managed to finish in points with 8th place. Next double points finish came in Italy with 8th and 9th place. Despite all that this was one of the most disappointing races of the season. We felt we could have achieved a lot more in Monza.
After the race in Japan came the "black out" where Porsche failed to score points in 3 successive races. This was the longest points drought in the season and to make things worse our direct competitors managed to score a lot of points and as a result we plummeted in the constructors championship. In the last race Artis Atrumins performed a mini miracle on the track with his 7th place to secure us 8th place in constructors championship. Overall Porsche Racing managed to score 74 points (15 times on 13 different tracks).
In the driver standings Artis Atrumins finished 12th with 52 points and Valtteri Sinisalo finished 18th with 22 points. We would like to thank Valtteri for his work in the past 2 seasons and we wish him all the best in the future.
We would also like to thank our supporters for their tireless voting and we hope you will continue to support us in the future. With your help we managed to raise 11.168 voting points, most out of all teams! McLaren came second with 10.805, followed by Windsor with 8.870 and Ford with 8.852 voting points.
