[F1] WAR - A Look at Season 19 and Beyond

Season 19 started as one of moderate optimism for Windsor Alliance Racing, new gearbox rules meant that we could improve on one of the parts where we had a large margin of improvement, of course everybody else would also have the opportunity to improve their cars! Our driver line-up was also new with Johnny da Costa Jr staying for the 2nd season and José Pedro Lamy finally joining the team his manager helped to found!

The first race in Melbourne got rid of any doubts any of us had about our competitiveness this season, JP Lamy quite simply conquered our first podium since season 9, the inaugural F1 season! After that Lamy continued a great run where he scored on most races and built up our points tally in great style, Da Costa on the other hand was not so lucky, often times he suffered from bad luck in qualifying which ended up costing him some good results, still it was a clear improvement on his previous season. The real highlight of the season came on the 16th race in Suzuka where we quite simply got our best result in our team's history, on very unstable weather JP Lamy read the weather perfectly and finished in 2nd place while Johnny suffered from the treacherous conditions but still finished on a respectable 7th place. This was our best collective result ever and also the best result for one of our drivers.

With these results it's no surprise that the season was a brilliant one, JP Lamy scored the most points a WAR driver ever scored in a season and our teams score was only below that of the first F1 season, a mere 8 points behind our points score back then, surely something we have to fix soon! Our results were enough to finish the constructors championship in 7th place, a clear improvement over our 10th place in the previous season.

We had a word with our drivers about last season and the future, here's what they had to say:

José Pedro Lamy comments:
"Season 19 was definitely a season to remember, after my not so successful debut in F1 2 seasons earlier I wasn't feeling all that confident even more considering WAR isn't a top5 team (yet) but right on the first race it was clear F1 was not the same sport as it used to be in a good way though.
I was aiming for 13th or so, I had to be realistic with the car I had so being in the top10 is already a big win but what I'm really happy for is the team, great minds are running this team and I know it took its time but their efforts are finally paying off. I believe it's only a matter of time until we start to fight for podiums because mark my words we will eventually. My manager once said WAR had hit rock bottom before he left but it was going to bounce back and here we are now with over 100 points. Next season I hope to overcome that, the car is going to be faster too so there are no excuses.
"

Johnny da Costa Jr about his season:
"Well... I have to be honest and say that despite having my best season in F1 in terms of points, I feel I should of done better, the team gave me a much improved car to work with compared to last season and my teammate scored 3x more points than I did, so in a way it wasn’t my best season in F1 although the points say otherwise, performance wise I could and should of done better."

And next season:
"Personally I expect to have a better season, I know it’s possible, but the other guys aren’t there to make it easy, just like I ain’t there to make it easy on them, in the end we’ll do the math and see if I was capable of bringing home more bacon than I did this season!"

Looking forward to season 20, Windsor will maintain the same line-up which was so successful but for sure our opponents aren't standing still so we're sure it won't be easy to repeat such a performance but we'll give our best to make it happen!

We would like to thank our drivers for their brilliant season but also Micos, Nightstalker and RicardoEvaristo and others for helping us reach the donations limit. You can also help us by donating voting points during the season and donating MRC money during the last week of next season.

We will also once again run the WAR Voting Points Fan Contest where the top 3 voting points donators will get coins! Visit our fan forum at windsorfans.proboards.com for more information and check our other activities like the WAR Fan Championship which runs during the season and the WAR Super-Cup which goes on the final weeks of each season.
