Comunicados de Prensa - Staci Evans in V8 Supercars

Staci Evans in V8 Supercars

Josh Brewer from MidWest Racing Magazine interviewing driver Staci Evans as we sit beside her number 35 Australian V8 Super Car Nissan.

Brewer: Staci Evans, why V8 in Australia, and why a Nissan? You are only one of three Nissan cars in the entire series, and teammate in Rage Motorsports Jackson Storm drives a Mercedes in the same series. Wouldn’t the team prefer similar cars?

Evans: Good questions. I struggled deciding between NASCAR and V8s for a couple of weeks. I love NASCAR and have fun rubbing paint in that series, and I believe my crew loved it as well. I am the first developmental driver for owner LoyalW, and we feel it is important to travel around and see some of the other series in the world, not only for data, but for the fun of it. As for the Nissan, yes it gives up some speed compared to some of the other cars, but when we test drove the different cars, it handles really well for me as a driver, and the crew liked some of its features getting in and out of the shop and pits. Plus have you seen the car. Nissan gave us a beautiful car. Their support has been amazing. As far as Rage Motorsports, they do encourage each driver and team owner to do what works for them. Jackson Storm is at another level and we are not there yet, but it is fun to be in a series with him, and travel with his team and crew as well from stop to stop. It adds an element of joy to an already fun season.

Brewer: All top 10s for Staci Evans so far in the V8 Series. Do you think you will be top 5’s soon or even stand on a podium this year?

Evans: We hope so. I mean everyone who races wants to be up there. Realistically we are aiming to be a top ten car in every race. It may or may not happen. We are going for consistency, stay out of trouble, gather data, and we hope to take advantage of a mistake or car trouble from those in front of us when we can. Those ahead of us are more experienced, well financed, and from great solid teams. We will gladly pass them if given the opportunity, but again our goal is consistent clean races with top ten finishes.

Brewer: If there is a chance for you to help Jackson Storm in this series will you do it?

Evans: I have to laugh at that question. Jackson Storm needs no help from Staci Evans for sure. He has his hands full with Jack Lavabo Jr up there. I can’t keep up with either one of them. If Jack is coming out of pit lane behind me, or if for some reason I do get up in the top three spots in a race, I will be concentrating on not messing up. In theory I would like to say sure, we will put some red white and blue Nissan paint on his car and leave a mark, but I really do want to finish each race as clean and fast as possible.

Brewer: This has been a great interview. Is there anything you would like to say in closing?

Evans: Yes, thanks to all my fans back in Iowa. All of my wonderful teammates in Rage Motorsports. My sponsors Nissan, Nippon Air, Powproc, Sports Movies and more. We are going to do what we can to keep this car on the track and up front as much as possible.
