Worst Season So Far

As Season 8 draws to a close, managers begin to look back at the season as it was. One such example is Ray Strivers manager who - after a monumental debut season snatching the British F3 Championship - has been left despairing at a season that went from bad to worse, quoting Season 8 as "The worst in all nine seasons...".

The young Brits championship was over before it began. Registering a lowly eight points from the first six races after a series of significant tangles left him with a heavily damaged car that could barely make the finish. The team angrily hit out at substandard driving from competitors at the time but have recently resigned themselves to the fact that it may have been to much of a push on raw pace and aggression for Striver to cope with that contributed to his poor results.

A mid-season shake-up in driving style and a heavy investment in mental coaching saw the tables turn briefly as Ray registered three straight podiums between Yeongam and Suzuka to get his WAR liveried car back where it belonged.

"We were on damage limitation by week three said Strivers manager, speaking to colleagues before the final weekend at Singapore.

"Qualifying in the Top 5 for pretty much every round shows where we are on raw pace. At Singapore we line up 3rd behind E. Syah and L. Capeta, two drivers who have dominated this championship (with Syah wrapping up the title some weeks ago) and we can safely assume that third or fourth in the title chase is where we should be. Proven by team mate Biguel Maines who sits 4th and has often matched pace with Striver".

Both drivers have however achieved a few goals this season. Breaking the UK top 10 ranking positions despite some poor performances, and a Custom Series win in mid-season for Ray.

"If we can hold on to 6th in the championship we'll at least break even financially... We can at least take that away. Question is now where do we look for next season? F3 Asia again or off to another series? We certainly don't want to be stepping backwards..."
