Reeves Callaway & Neil Wilson Statement

Reeves Callaway: I have thought hard about this decision, but I have decided that the end of this season is the right time to retire as I want to spend more time with my family and interests outside of motorsport. That’s not to say I won’t be around racetracks anymore as I am still passionate about motorsport and I have also made some great friends so it won’t be the last you see of me and I would be happy to pass on my advice and experience to any driver, especially with any new future driver my manager Neil takes on. I have many great memories throughout my career but winning in the wet at Knockhill in British F3 and Sepang in Superb Formula were big highlights as we picked the right strategy with tyres and the teamwork in pitstops was so important, but it all worked out perfectly. Also winning in both North and South America were great too. One career disappointment was racing in the Supercar Series as I never really got a handle on choosing the right tyres in the right races, although finishing fourth at Bathurst was a big highlight. Last season in World GT was also disappointing, especially as we retired 4 races in a row with the Aston, including at home at Silverstone, but overall, I feel I have had a great career with a great team of people around me.
Neil Wilson: We knew that this time would come unfortunately, and we have been talking about it over the last few seasons but wanted to give it one more try in a series I know Reeves enjoyed previously, but it just hasn’t worked out as we hoped. Reeves has always been committed to everything he does, whether it be on the track, in the gym or in the classroom when training. Reeves has said he would like to help with any new driver I manage, and I have been keeping an eye on a young driver in karting I would be interested in managing, but it is up to their family if they would like me to manager them in car racing or not. Reeves has met the driver and they seem to get on well, so it would be great if Reeves can pass on his advice and experience. In terms of the team, it’s going to be sad to see it disbanded and they move onto other teams. They have done such a great job and are a brilliant bunch of people to work with.
