F3 Masters Round 5 Macau Feature: Szybki achieves the perfect comeback meeting with win as Thomazini is crowned champion

Bartek Szybki came from 6th in field from his Sprint Race starting position to win the final race of the season as Luiz Thomazini is crowned champion despite a mechanical failure in the late stages in the race as Bellamy only finished 4th.

As the race started, sprint race winner Marc Vilanova held on to the lead with Cordell Gifford creating pressure behind before the young Spaniard was able to control the pace, as Samuel Bellamy overtook the his championship rival Luiz Thomazini at the Fisherman's Bend for 8th but has a long way to go if he wants to take the championship. The rain started to drop down harder and yet it hasn't caught any of the drivers into the wall yet they're trying to avoid them at the hardest as Reeves Callaway went staright on but was able to continue around the back. On Lap 16, Marc Vilanova made a huge slide at the Esses, touching a wet patch on the circuit allowing Gifford and Szybki who snuck his way past some drivers to 2nd through but Steve Villeneuve did the same mistake and lost places as well, wasn't long until he made another mistake this time at Turn 5 which did damage to his car and ended his race right on the spot. A couple of drivers did come into the pits but it's proven to be the wrong strategy as the rain starts to fall down harder and take away some grip and temperature on the circuit right now, making the race harder for drivers. On lap 23, Marc Vilanova crashed out at the Dona Maria Bend after hitting another wet patch on the racing line and ruined what was a perfect ending to his season. With Vilanova eliminated, Szybki was able to relax and close the gap down on race leader Gifford who's looking for his first win of the season but it's not looking good for Samuel Bellamy who might be in 4th but he's 10 seconds behind from the race win and is trying his best to get past Steve Wallace who's having the race of his life at the moment for the podium but Thomazini is lacking a bit in 7th but he doesn't need to worry, he can do the maths with 1 hand on the trophy, also there's the U24 and U22 championship to be decided with the U19 (Tony Muller) and Females (Heleia Genorés) done and dusted.
Rain got down harder on Lap 26, all the drivers came in for wet tyres except for DeCesaris who braved slicks in the rain and saw Szybki jump Gifford in the pits and Bellamy got himself moved a place up from Wallace into the podium places but it's still not enough, Thomazini also moved up a place to 6th. Steve Wallace found his way back at the end of the next lap as Szybki runs away with the lead, Paolo Nannini ends the race with a crash 4 laps to go running in a solid 11th place enough to deploy the safety car and end the race from there, enough to crown Luiz Thomazini the F3 Master of Season 29 despite his car suffering an electrical failure and not being able to see the chequered flag. The top 10 ended with Bartek Szybki winning, Cordell Gifford 2nd again in this meeting, Steve Wallace taking a solid podium, Samuel Bellamy finishing 4th is not enough to steal the Brazilian's crown off him, Marc Montane taking a solid 5th in the end, Alex Reis good end to the season in 6th however U22 champ Massimiliano Del Ragno finishes 7th, his joing best result from Monaco and a very very brilliant season by him, Juca Macieira recovering to 8th, Cameron Pither season best 9th and Genorés rounds out the top 10. Andrea DeCesaris was 11th, Philip Ross just about scores points in 12th, so does Chloe de St. Germain behind, Kenny Werdheim a visitor once again and Mack Zaggro takes the final one.

I will reveal it all tomorrow in the review once I get the standings done since I'm behind on that too, if you want to see it, copy and paste the link below:

Great job as usual, love reading these reviews! Just a couple of things - my wife's driver surname is "Geronès" and also, why are me and a few other guys in lime green in the standings?
