Season Series / New User Problems [Revisited]

So today I had a thought, broad enough to exist outside of the community forums and a situation I feel a good 85% of MRC users find themselves facing Season after Season.

Series selection is just about the most significant thing you will do as a manager of a fledgling - or semi-established growing - driver, and it can all fall down around you very fast, and nullify your enthusiasm for the game if it does.

Looking around the available series for my driver and I'm presented with the usual issues:

- OP drivers who stay put in lower tiers (which is the freedom of choice offered by the game)

- Series that fail to fill a full grid

These have been bought up and debated many times, so I won't dwell on a problem... Only offer my opinion on a potential solution.

This issue didn't arise until long after I learned the games mechanic in the (very) early days. I can only imagine now that new managers with new drivers must be looking at something like Indy/FE/F2/NASC/Super Formula and thinking "I'd love a go at that!" But wondering why you'd spend in excess of €750,000 (if you somehow have that much money at that age!?) to not be the slightest bit competitive, and walk away 10 weeks later with nothing to show except for a heavily depleted bank balance.

Is there not a way to encourage new or younger drivers into higher tiers? Perhaps with a severely reduced application fee (for example, 50% reduction for U21?) And or a sort of "privateer" status that could see them win a small profit by outperforming their expectation?

I'm aware this is probably a coding and logistical nightmare, but the mid-high level series are seeing 24-25 applicants on a good day, with an intimidatingly prominent Top 5 drivers that surely is putting off more people than it invites?

While I feel the pain of establishing yourself and your driver. I also have to reflect back on My drivers career. Foyt in his second season chose the risk to go into FE. There was legends in that series at the time. What I remember seeing that parti...
