wF1P S23

Hi guys, as promised in my last PR I have calculated the wF1P and have the results to show you. Below you can find an introduction to the statistic per say that I posted in S18 when I first calculated it. While in S18 I could not adjust the weights used to how the cars were being improved during the season, this season however I was able to be more on top of it and so I was able to make some adjustments when I saw changes, obviously it is impossible to catch everything so I am sure I missed something in terms of timing, but it’s not a big deal as this is just for us to have some fun in analysing stuff. So take it with a big grain of salt please. ;)

wF1P means Weighted F1 Performance. It is something I am working on to try and analyse each F1 driver’s season and see who the top MRC F1 driver truly was. It is based on a baseball statistic called wOBA and it uses weights to each event, in this case to each position in each F1 race, I also give weights to the car that each driver has at his disposal. For example from the information gathered the top machines in F1 this season were the Red Bull Racing Vaillante F1 and the McLaren Racing team (they were both neck and neck all season long or at least when I checked it), while on the opposite spectrum we had the Ljuti Krajišnici Racing and the Sempre Senna Racing (one during the beginning of the season the other after the middle part more or less aldo after the midle of season the two were close), so logically the expectations for the drivers in these two teams are quite different and should not be analyzed equally, for those reasons each team was evaluated individually and given a weight depending on it’s potential, that was to try and make it as fair as possible. It analyses the races performances, not the qualifying. And that’s it, I already have the data for this season and you can check it out below.

Average wF1P in S23 was: 2.31

That's it, after gathering all the data those are the results! I will try to do this in S24 as well, but it's time consuming and so I won't promise I will be able to do so.

Good luck for S24 everyone.
