Good Week for driver Staci Evans.

This week has been kind to driver Staci Evans. The Microsoft team number 35 is pleased with her progress and a new adventure as well. Staci placed 8th at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin in the F3 American Road Race Series, and completed her first race in the Private P2 race in Belgium at Circuit Jules Tacheny Mettet placing 18th. She was interviewed by Dustin Reyes of Redmond Magazine.

Dustin: Placing top ten again has to be pleasing to your sponsors and team owner. How do you feel about your rookie progress?

Staci: I knew we had a good car as we qualified 10th place and had a great group of cars around us. I just did not want to mess it up, and stay up there in that lead pack all day. I managed to go back and forth with a few of the other drivers and finished 8th at the end. It was exciting and fun. I feel good that we can honor our sponsors and have the car talked about as the race was going.

Dustin: When will we see the win?

Staci: I hope soon, but have to be realistic. We are a young team, and we want to win. We also have a realistic budget and can’t afford to wreck. I am surrounded by coaches, mentors, and engineers, and we are figuring out a winning package. There are ups and downs, but I feel each week we get a little smarter, get a bigger sponsor or two to help with the costs, and just keep working.

Dustin: How different was driving a Volkswagen in the P2 group than a Formula 3 car?

Staci: I had to laugh at first. I have a Volkswagen GTI as a daily driver, so getting one to drive on the track was funny to me at first. All laughing disappeared when I got behind a race engineered Volkswagen and put it on a track with other drivers. I kept it out of trouble, and we had a respectable first showing, but hard work will be needed to keep growing, and the different car to race helps me understand braking packages, and the importance of cornering as they take some horsepower away from me on this circuit.
