Pressemitteilungen - UK Grand Champion / End of Era

UK Grand Champion / End of Era

In one of the most diplomatic, all-inclusive and ambitious Private Series' ever staged. The season-long, 20 round "UK World Championship" has come to a close, and with it, an undeniable champion is crowned... But not in as dominant a fashion as many expected.

The currently World Ranked #24 driver, Jackson Storm sealed his place in history by claiming the outright Championship after points were tallied across two separate, ten round, twenty race championships throughout the season. The long standing UK#1 driver amassed a total of 1882 points across forty races, averaging a healthy 47.05 points per race! But only managed to take the first of these two Private Championships in its own right, as World #68 Driver Marcus Ripley stunned many managers by taking the second series, on merit, by just 56 points over Storm. And racking up himself a tally of 1559 points overall (38.975PPR).

Two other relatively new additions to the World's Top 100 ranked drivers shared a wealth of accolades between themselves over the mammoth 40 race season. But eventually Ricky Higham won the final podium place over Paul Dover, as the pair ended just 80 points apart, on 1104 and 1024 respectively.

To all managers involved, keep an eye on the forum over the weekend, for full points round-up and numbers you can crunch harder than the chocolate on that ridiculous Magnum Ice Cream advert.

Legitimately though. This has been one of the most satisfying things I have ever done in MRC since I joined in BETA in 2011. Picking every single track through voting poll, the format, the points system, and keeping the series free-to-enter has genuinely seen new managers message to request invitation for inclusion in the series. Bought new (and old) faces to the forum and given us a real sense of who is performing, and to what level.

Which brings me nicely to my final honourable mentions. A big shout to drivers Lawley and Brianson who between Parts I & II of this championship, managed to increase their points tally by nigh on 100% and climb the standings in a huge way! And also to Peter McCain who finished Part I on 17 points, and Part II on 94! An increase of 453%!!

And with that it is with regret that I highly doubt the UK Private Championship will continue to run. A princely sum of 210 coins is never particularly easy to find, and on one occasion, many managers were happy to donate to keep the series afloat. Maybe a collaborative effort will be on the cards in the future. But for now it seems the (arguably) longest running private series in MRC (which pre-dates the Private Series format) will be taking a few years to find itself, and maybe go travelling or something...
