Pressemeddelelser - Not fastest, not steadiest, not bad

Not fastest, not steadiest, not bad

He used to be the best among his challengers but Francisco Pires has now faced a series where he was just an average Joe.
He had the rating, he had the speed but he just wasn't able to keep up on the podium.
He's here now with us to explain what went wrong this season.

Blazefp's Magazine: Good evening Francisco. This season you weren't as successful as on the other ones. Care to enlighten us on what happened?

Francisco Pires: Hi. Short answer? Nothing. Apart from a few errors at the kick off, this series went as good, if not better, as the others. Yes I didn't managed a podium, yes I didn't even managed a single first place but finishing the hardest series in existence in 6th place isn't anything to be ashamed of, on the contrary.
IF I was to start now, against the same drivers, I'd probably get a better place but that's true for everyone new.
This series I was against the greatest drivers around, there's no way to turn your back on that. Vergne surprised me as I wasn't aware of his speed. He barely does any mistake and still manages to be one of the fastest ones. Grosjean did what I expected of him: beat everything and everyone.
[Long breath] I'm just happy I didn't let 3 Italians slip by me. There's nothing I can do for the French, I guess they're already used to run fast [inoffensive laughs]

BM: You crashed many times this season and didn't get a single first place. Still 6th place. Quite astonishing.

FP: True but I wasn't the only one. Torrenti did the 4th place with the same accomplishment.

BM: Indeed. And are we going to see you in an Indy car next season too?

FP: No, enough of that, too many crashes, too low risks. I'm going back to F2, World series this time, where I'll meet equally great drivers like Grandi, Poucette, De Montferrand, Seno, Liu, Picks, Szalonna and many others. All referenced are in the Trophy of Champions so they gotta be the best.

BM: About that, you're one of the lucky qualified. How do you feel?

FP: It's just fantastic! Not only I was officially recognized as one of the best drivers of the season (quite different from best overall) but I'm also going to be able to represent my country on an official world wide event, equivalent only to the Olympic games or Confederations Cup in football.
I hope I don't mess up but being qualified is already a victory for me, I even had my helmet changed just for the occasion (Sonic's still there though, he'll always be there)
It's also a chance to drive against the best drivers in the world with no rookie in between which is something very rare. I expect a VERY tight race, with no more than 2 seconds differing 1st and last in qualifies.

BM: Sounds like it's going to be really interesting but only for a small elite of players. How can you help others reach this peak so that every race can be more like this?

FP: That's really up to each one to find their true potential and use it the best way they can. I can only tell what put me in this place but it's going to be different from driver to driver.
My best attribute is consistency so I've been trying to use it as well as I can. This varies for everyone of course.
One thing I can say for sure: To race against the top drivers you have to become one of them. Study their tactics, adapt it to your abilities and race with your chin up.

And with this staggering line, it's time to end.
Thanks very much for the preference, this was the end of season update from Blazefp's Magazine.
We'll be back at the start of season 5.
