Pressemeddelelser - Champagne and Grid Girls - the Champ is Crowned

Champagne and Grid Girls - the Champ is Crowned

The newly crowned champion of Ukrainian F3 has taken the title in style, winning ten races of the eighteen so far. With two remaining, young Canadian Monty Semprini has clinched the top spot with dominant pace on the track and dashing charm and personality off it. Soaked in champagne and surrounded by the grid girls of the Crimea Circuit, he smiles for photos behind funky sunglasses.

His amazing run began at the season's second round at Autodrom Chaika, taking his first podium with a third place from second on the grid. He then went on to win the feature second race by reacting well to the safety car and taking the checquered flag by over eighteen seconds, beginning a run of five straight victories.

"It's great to be the champ. I love to race, I love to win and I love to party!" he said before lighting a victory cigar with his engineer.

Semprini had the pace but others had consistency. He may not have qualified lower than fourth all year and only finished outside the top five once, but his four retirements left the door open for challengers like Sami Kopsa, Tom Byron or the Ukrainian home favorite Vasiliy Bublikoff. The season started off poorly at this very circuit Crimea when a late error from third place forced him to pit for repairs and dropped him to fourteenth. The second race did not go any smoother when contact on a restart left him well down the order and out of the points. However, after the third round he had climbed atop the table and never looked back as the white car began to assert its domination over the field.

"It's about knowing your car, setting her up right and bringing her home. We always had great practices and this made us always quick," he said. "It may have looked easy, but in the last half of the season, Filipp Shulman pushed me hard. He may be a bit further down the table, but he is the next quickest guy here."

The future is bright for Semprini. When asked where his career would go next he only had this to say.

"Wherever the girls are prettiest."
