Comunicats de Premsa - Montreal skirmish. Lyn Vos comes in 5th

Montreal skirmish. Lyn Vos comes in 5th

Lyn has finished 5th in the first Montreal race of the North American series. It's a big result for the Dutch driver who has no better than 8th so far this season. The result has moved her up to 13th in the championship with a window to improve further in the second Montreal race.

Aleksandr Griboedov wins the race and moves up to the second place in the championship. Now trailing 26 points behind Vilgaudas Koldūnas and 13 points ahead of fellow Russian, Filipp Shulman. With his main competition starting at the back of the field, Aleksandr could close the gap further to Vilgaudas.

The stage for the Friday's race was set during a wet qualifying session. Both Koldunas and Nilsson struggled with their tires and came in at 16th and 15th. The other front runners, Shulman, Griboedov and Fields came in at 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Lyn Vos was right behind the fastest guys on the track, coming in at 4th.

Koldunas crashed into Mike Shamrack in the very first lap, in the second lap Paul Gad collided with Matt Fields. Paul retired right away, Matt Fields would last until lap 5 when Pieere Dolche rammed his car into Field's back. In only 5 laps 3 of the 6 best ranked drivers were out of the race.

Shulman and Griboedov were fighting it out for first while Nilson had moved up from 15th to 6th. The young Canadian, Enrique Polastri had fought his way up to 3rd, Lyn held unto 4th and Aidan Wong was now 5th.

In lap 10 Shulman missed a turn and crashed his car against a wall. Nilsson had moved up to 3rd and Wong up to 4th, both having passed Lyn who was now in 5th. In lap 14 Enrique Polastri's car broke down, moving both Wong and Vos up, with Andre Rossi a short distance behind.

In the end Rossi would overtake Lyn in the final laps. Griboedov wins, Nilsson comes in second, Wong 3rd, Rossi 4th and Vos 5th.

"5th is a great result for me and the team." Lyn told the press after the race. "But this was a strange race. Six of the strongest drivers did not finish the race. The race tomorrow is going to be crazy too. I expect Vilgaudas and the others will come charging up the field."

"I'm going to have to stay focused tomorrow. I think it's going to be an especially challenging race. Everyone will be fighting for positions and I don't see us all getting through the first few laps without incident. I'm excited about it too. It's going to be fun."
