Party in the Pitlane.
Its Austin, Texas, and we are at the Circuit of the Americas and Four garages in a row down the far end of the pitlane are still lit at 3am. The Music is loud, the mood is jovial and the celebrations are still going on. What is being celebrated? Well Rage's first victory in the F3 American series of course, we found the Rage drivers round a table, beers in hand, all wearing Rage T-shirts and looking very happy.
James Allen had a few words.
JA: Well that's the first race done gents, his do you feel?
Wheeler: Well its like this James, we started 1,2,4,5; we wanted 1,2,3,4 and we got 1,3,4,8.
JA: this doesn't look like a dissapointed atmosphere?
Wayne: Hell no,we were on for 1,3,4,5 but I lost it on lap 15 and paid the price, but we achieved some nice stats, 2 Rage boys on the podium, 3 in the top 5 and Drum's first win!
JA: That's right, congratulations Drummond, how does it feel to be leading the series.
Bennett: James I was given some advice recently, I forget from who, "Key to being a winner is winning" I assume I've put that jibe to rest now. I think this overall result shows that Rage Motorsports is not all bark and no bite. We mean business, we mean to win this series.
JA: so do you think you'll still be on top at the end of the season?
Bennett: I don't care which one of us is up there, but One of the four drivers at this table will be at the top!
Knight: I'll Drink to THAT! (And they clink their bottles and do precisly that)
JA: One final question, what about the accusations from earlier in the week?
Knight: well we spoke to the officials and they said that an investigation wasn't warranted as no complaints had been received, they also pointed out that setup sharing would not really give any benefit as each car and driver combination has different ideals. Certainly any gains made would not make a dramatic impact on performance... But we all knew that so unless someone wants to step up and make it formal, then who cares! And you forget the main factor here anyway
JA: what's that?
Knight: We are the best of buddies here at Rage, but when the helmets are on and the lights go out these guys are my competition. Why would I share data with my competition?
JA:So its not Rage vs the rest?
Wheeler: There is no one else in F3 America who will challenge us this season, except maybe Wolf, who drove a damned good race today.
JA:Well Gents, Thanks for your time. I'll be back for one of those beers soon!
Thanks James, Yet more fighting talk from the Rage camp, these guys aren't backing down, but with results like this who can blame them! the question is can they keep it up?
